Collection: Ingersoll
The Ingersoll Watch Company was founded in 1882 by brothers Robert and Charles Ingersoll in New York City, initially as a mail-order business selling novelties. By 1892, they partnered with the Waterbury Clock Company to produce affordable watches, famously introducing the "Dollar Watch," a reliable timepiece sold for just one dollar, making quality watches accessible to the masses. The "Yankee" model, launched in 1896, became a global bestseller. During the early 20th century, Ingersoll expanded internationally and introduced the first glow-in-the-dark watch dials using radium. However, financial difficulties led to bankruptcy in 1921, and the brand was acquired by Waterbury Clock (later U.S. Time, now Timex), ensuring its legacy lived on in affordable, durable watches.
